Siskel and Ebert Aka So what happened to angry tall guy? where did he go?

OK when i was a kid my mom made me watch Siskel and Ebert like all the time. From the prospective of an eight-year-old these guys were geniuses. When they both like a movie, man you gotta see that movie. If the disagreed then you had to think to yourself " do i want to be tall and bald or fat with glasses today". Like today do i want to be angry for no reason or have an ugly wife? These two men were counterpoints and just like in music you can't have one without the other. So with the death of Gene Siskel American Television also lost intelligent film criticism. We can see this in the next generation of the television show Ebert and Robert. Here we have a balding fat man with a fat man with glasses. Already the American film choices are being dumbed down. You even lose a little of who you want to be, you can't be angry tall guy anymore.

Now we have already lost 50% of our choices 50% of America just gone like that. And with the loss Ebert America now has one choice. The new incarnation of "out at the movies" is just two moderately educated "gentlemen" that trade sound bite about how much they like the latest hollywood release. Not a film experience that you could choose to have just " boy golly Will Smith...need i say more" yes please do. that is why this statement made me so happy.
